IPv4 not working

Hi,

I have a pretty baffling networking issue. ipv4 networking does not work at all, however, ipv6 is working just fine. Pinging an ipv4 address directly does not work either. I tried disabling the entire ipv6 stack using the methods described here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/IPv6#Disable_IPv6 , including disabling the ipv6 linux stack entirely. I recently upgraded a lot of packages after a period of not updating for roughly 3 months. My current guess is that it's the linux kernel I upgraded to 4.4.6.

Sorry for the lack of logs but it is rather hard to get since I do not have network access to the machine.

Re: IPv4 not working

My current guess is that it's the linux kernel I upgraded to 4.4.6.

I doubt very much archlinux ever had a 4.4.6 kernel in repos.
stock kernel went from 4.4.5 to 4.5.1 and is now at 4.7.1 .
linux-lts went from 4.1.21 to 4.4.7 and is now 4.4.16 .

dpayne, where did that 4.4.6 kernel come from ?

Re: IPv4 not working

You are correct, I missed typed the kernel version. My current version is 4.4.16-lts.

Re: IPv4 not working

What are you using to manage network connections ?

dhcpcd, dhclient, systemd-networkd , netctl , networkmanager etc .
Have you tried swtiching to another ?

does "ping -c 5 google.com" work ?
(ping uses ipv6 by default now)
