iPhone is only auto-mounted half way

Hi All,

for a few weeks I have noticed that when I connect my iPhone to my PC, I can only see "Documents on iPhone" in GNOME/Nautilus. This correctly references an afc:// path ending with :3. However, I do not automatically get an additional mount point for accessing pictures and videos on the iPhone. When I enter the same afc:// path in Nautilus and leave out the :3 at the end, I can access all pictures and videos without any issues, and opening this path will actually add the mount point in Nautilus. Has anybody experienced the same behavior? Does anybody know about a workaround? Thanks for your help in advance!

I am quite certain that this used to work previously, but I am not exactly sure when it changed.

Cheers

No ideas yet ... does anybody have any pointers as to where I might look for the root cause of this issue?

Re: iPhone is only auto-mounted half way

I have no idea either, although I have noticed this behaviour the first time some months ago.

The workaround I use is (the same as you mentioned already):
I copy “afc://40digit:3/” and paste “afc://40digit/” into the address field of PCManFM. After that “afc://40digit/” shows up too when running gvfs-mount -l.

You have to install gvfs-gphoto2

Re: iPhone is only auto-mounted half way

And why should that help? As indicated above: The mount points used to be created automatically before. With the same selection of packages (actually gvfs-gphoto2 is already installed), the mount point for images and videos is suddenly missing but can still be accessed by browsing to its address manually.
