vconsole problems

I don't often use vconsole, so I'm not sure how long this has been happening... Not for very long, I don't think, since I do use virtual consoles sometimes and I would have noticed pretty quickly if it had been going on for long.

Today I needed to use a vconsole login to kill a misbehaving X app. However, when I opened the console, there were some strange things going on.

First, backspace no longer works. Ctrl-D does nothing (or, in one Arch install, prints odd characters), and a command preceded by space does not work.

I've had a loot at /etc/vconsole.conf, contents of which is as below:

 KEYMAP=uk
FONT=lat9w-16
FONT_MAP=8859-1_to_uni

It hasn't changed in a long time (since October 2014, which is probably when I installed this copy of Arch). I'm wondering what else I should be looking at to find what is messing up vconsole keyboard use?

Paul.

Re: vconsole problems

I was having a similar issue. Try removing the FONT_MAP line.
