What should I do with the attached Call Trace from the log?

I am struggling with logging in after installing an old laptop.
While I am trying to find my way through, I think the following is a complete
description of a sub problem. Is it? should I post it somewhere else?

Re: What should I do with the attached Call Trace from the log?

post the full log.

The problem cause is often before (sometimes hundreds of loglines before) a call trace is visible.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

As an aside, am I right that not all bbcodes mentioned on http://bbcode.org/reference.php are enabled in this forum? Is there a list of those that are enabled?

Re: What should I do with the attached Call Trace from the log?

Am I right the following is the switch from initial ramdisk to initiating the boot process?

708.
[ 4.852371] localhost systemd[1]: Starting Switch Root...
709.
[ 4.860771] localhost systemd[1]: Stopped LVM2 PV scan on device 8:2.

Re: What should I do with the attached Call Trace from the log?

There's a link "BBCode" on the left side of the bottom bar for this window,  it points to https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode .

Yes,the switch from initramfs to real root is around those lines.

There a lot of errors shown, but it's hard to tell which are harmless and which not.

[ 101.274186] localhost. kernel: ACPI: Waking up from system sleep state S3

That code suggests that the system is put to sleep, then woken up again not long after.
The stacktrace shows several cpufreq related things.

Other errrors also look like they may be relatedto cpu throtttling / power management .

BIOS 1.03C looks like a "young" and maybe immature bios version.

Check what the final bios version is for this laptop.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Fujitsu-Siemens seem to no longer support this laptop.
https://www.amilo-forum.com/topic,2038, … ilit=1.03C suggests this is the final BIOS version. That thread also suggests disabling acpi. Any comments on testing with

acpi=off

?

Re: What should I do with the attached Call Trace from the log?

I do think It's worth a try to see how this system performs using apm instead of acpi, so go ahead.
