Login from GDM hangs

Hello,

since the huge upgrade of Gnome, my login hangs every time I enter the credentials in gdm. All I see is the gdm background image, but nothing happens. This problem occurs with Cinnamon, Gnome, and KDE.

When I try to investigate the problem from the console with Ctrl+Alt+F2, I am not directed to the console but my window manager starts.

Here is the relevant part of the log. Please notice the two minutes I waited before pressing Ctrl+Alt+F2 (third line):

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Re: Login from GDM hangs

Hitting the Escape key also works to make it continue when it hangs (instead of Ctrl-Alt-F2).

Here's the bug report about the problem: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=754814

Re: Login from GDM hangs

Thanks for the hint and the link to the bugreport, this is exactly my problem. ESC works for now, so I think I can live with it until the bug is fixed.

Re: Login from GDM hangs

Having the same problem of GDM hanging on re-login after suspend. I can hit ESC and return back to the login form, but then on submitting again the problem occurs again, so I cannot login.

As a workaround, I can switch to another VT (e.g. with CTRL-ALT-F3), login and kill gnome-shell softly using "killall -HUP gnome-shell". Afterwards, I can switch back to GDM (CTRL-ALT-F2) and the login succeeds. Most of the time, that is. Sometimes my session is lost and I am back to the normal login.
