tor timeout

Hello,

I use the tor Browser on Windows 10, it works fine. (20sec to load an onion page)
I use the tor-browser-en from aur with arch in the same network. It is incredible slow on linux. (minutes to load, most times I get a time out)
So it have to be a problem with my network settings not with the nodes

anyone can help?
thanks

Re: tor timeout

Tor itself doesn’t touch network settings nor does Tor Browser. The browser is just using SOCKS proxy provided by Tor — there is nothing there that could slow things down. I would still consider investigating if it’s not your bad luck on what nodes are selected for the route.

Also try with some simple browser or even wget and compare results. You may also see if Whonix run on a virtual machine produces the same outcome.

Re: tor timeout

Every so many minutes Tor will choose a different route. It may be you are having bad luck on Linux. If your connection is fast outside of Tor and slow in Tor, it is probably a slow route which is chosen. You can use a tool like arm to tell Tor to find a new route.

(I don't remember the correct terms. By route I mean the Tor nodes to connect through.)
