Hi,
I had an idea that I would make my Arch Linux a bit more Gentoo-like. i would like to compile some software (X, Firefox...) from sources instead of using prebuilt packages. I would like also to recompile their dependenciess (libraries etc). And I would like to do it also when such packages are updated.
Is there any such way of doing this? I know that Yaourt can use abs while installing packages and their dependencies, but it refuses to do that if packages are already installed.
thank you for your answers.

Why is ABS not a solution for you?

Sounds like a short bash script with some text filters and abs, as well as a pacman hook to me. However, since you speak in riddles, I need to inform you, that many people will refuse to guess, what you actually want. Time to draw a picture.

You're in an awfully good mood tonight. :-D

Okay, I will try to explain it more clearly. I would like to compile some packages my self because of optimization for my architecture.
And I would also like to compile in this way their dependencies. And I would like to compile those packages my self even when they are being updated.
It seems that https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ar … d_packages may solve my problem, I will try this.
