I recently installed Arch Linux on my laptop which is using the Broadcom 43142 wireless card, and I have been having issues searching for wireless networks.
Below are some of the outputs I have been receiving ( I have installed the drivers: broadcom-wl-dkms):
lspci -k

Subsystem: Dell Wireless 1704 802.11n + BT 4.0
Kernel driver in use: wl
Kernel modules: bcma, wl
sudo iwlist scan
wlp2s0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Invalid argument
ifconfig

I have tried depmod -a and it still doesn't work. Also all conflicting drivers have been removed and blacklisted.
Any ideas how I could go about fixing this?

What about
ip link
iw dev wlp2s0 scan | grep -i ssid
?
If you want to use netctl, you can try wifi-menu as well.

Try
ip link set wlp2s0 up
and then again
iw dev wlp2s0 scan | grep -i ssid

I still get the same error -22 even after running ip link set wlp2s0 up.

You could try this, it may be old but the same error (-22) and AFAICT the same broadcom card.

thanks @Tutti !
That's just happened to me and your link saved me. As this question is not marked as solved it is good to mention.
The solution is very simple:
try pressing the function button the controls the wifi
