Re: OK guys help me out...

I voted no,  big_smile

this sounds like network problem,
you could do a cd install and try to fix the network after that,

arch + gentoo + initng + python = enlisy

Re: OK guys help me out...

I ended up being the only one voting yes.... And as for a network problem i can ping out fine so i was baffled.... I just decided to do a cd install and a pacmay -Syu after i was done.... gives you the same effect in the end... The main reason i wanted to do ftp initially is because i didn't know you could make a custom kernel off of the CD. Well a nice suprise led to another nice suprise and now i have my updated system with my kernel... Life is peachy lol

I voted for yes because it makes me feel like a big man.

Re: OK guys help me out...

Wow ! At the moment of this post, the votes are equal with 11/11 !

Anyway, I had network problems with compaq computers before. It was always a case of BIOS upgrade to solve the problem. Just wanted to spread the word. Upgrade your compaq bios ! My problem was that the ftp install was working. But after the first reboot, the network was down. In fact, it sounds like the network device was shutdown during reboot and never brought up again... unless I pull the plug.

In short : Compaq = do a bios upgrade
