For a few days now (unfortunately I can't pinpoint the exact day), my displays don't turn off after ten minutes anymore. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed and xset still shows a timeout of 600 seconds. This leads me to believe that some program is keeping the screens awake. Is there a way to find out which program does that, and if yes, how?

Try 'systemd-inhibit --list'.

Mobo: MSI MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX // Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X @4.9GHz // GFX: AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT // RAM: 32GB (4x 8GB) Corsair DDR4 (@ 3000MHz) // Storage: 1x 3TB HDD, 6x 1TB SSD, 2x 120GB SSD, 1x 275GB M2 SSD

Try 'systemd-inhibit --list'.
Who: NetworkManager (UID 0/root, PID 542/NetworkManager)
What: sleep
Why: NetworkManager needs to turn off networks
Mode: delayApparently, that's not it. Further ideas?
Edit: I just realized we may be talking about different things. I just want my monitor to turn off after ten minutes of inactivity, not put it to sleep or shut it off (which is what systemd-inhibit checks).

Nah, my thinking was that if there was something inhibiting sleep, perhaps it's also inhibiting dpms, but it looks like that was a dead end. I don't know of any other programs that list inhibitors, but some DEs can override dpms settings. What environment are you using? Did it have an update around the time the problem started? You said "displays", so I assume this is a desktop, not a laptop, is that right? Can you post the output of 'xset q'? Please also post the entries in pacman.log from before the time the problem started til now.

It seems that I have found the inhibitor, your request for the pacman.log reminded me that the only new thing I recently installed is a multi-messenger named "franz". Lo and behold, closing it and waiting for the timeout works. I'll take it up with the programmers then, thank you.
