Video freeze after period of inactivity

as the title says, if I don't interact with the PC for a while, the video will stop. the computer still functons otherwise, but the display will remain in place. it's always been this way, I just figured that it was a non-issue since I'm probably on the PC when I'm looking at the screen. I recenty set up the PC as a baby monitor, using some old hardware I had around the house to stream video to the PC, and then use the PC as a central server for video, as well as a monitor if I'm doing house work or whatever. the video freezing presents a problem, as I have to periodically move the mouse to make the video resume again. here's some hardware info:

uname -a; lscpu | grep -iE 'architecture:|^cpu\(s\):|vendor|model name:'; lspci -k | grep -i vga -A 3; lspci | grep -i audio; grep -i memtotal /proc/meminfo
