Would be interested to know how you find it in comparison to the current stable. I saw that a beta had recently been released, but I've had too many issues with AUR packages, so I'm just going to wait.

I have the developer snapshot running on my pi, and I like it much better than the old version

What exactly do you like about it compared to the previous version?
There isn't much that I could see being improved over the previous version, though as I had just done a fresh install of Arch, I noticed it took a long time for kodi to scan my library, and while it was doing that the performance was miserable, it could take 10 seconds or more to respond. Other than that I could only imagine the new default skin might have look nice, and hopefully be more customisable than the previous one.

Many of the addon packages in aur for kodi-devel are broken because nobody maintains them anymore.
Therefore they require a bit of tinkering to make them work.
However, if you use only plain kodi w/o any iptvsimple and the like, you can just install it without worries.
For what I noticed they changed the default skin and also the video player.
