Thinkpad brightness keys(fn+f8/f9) stopped working

Hi , my brigthness control keys stopped working for no reason, maybe because of an update but im not sure. I've searched on other forums but didn't find a working solution. I would appreciate any help !

Check what you have updated around the time things stopped working, then rollback all the packages that were updated and see if it works again.

First guess - you updated a kernel and did not reboot?  Check that the running kernel version ( uname -a ) == the kernel version that is installed ( pacman -Qi linux )
This assumes you are running the stock kernel.

What desktop environment are you using?
Did you have to bind those keys to some action initially, or did they "just work" ?
