Mate weather applet is failing with libmateweather

Mate weather applet is failing with the error:

Sep 17 10:34:16 thinkt org.mate.panel.applet.ClockAppletFactory[1843]: (clock-applet:2079): MateWeather-WARNING **: Failed to get METAR data: 404 Not Found.

Digging more on the subject and a post in Ubuntu forums, found out that the site the info is taken from has gone down and appalrently it is not yet fixed in the applet configs:

http://askubuntu.com/questions/817083/m … ot-working

Quote:
The weather information in METAR format was being downloaded from the NOAA website (it was world wide information) via the libgnomeweather library (and later via the libmateweather library). Around four years ago the NOAA announced it would discontinue that service. Apparently nobody noticed and when the service was discontinued a couple of weeks ago people started to find the message Failed to get METAR data: 404 Not Found in the syslog log
end of quote

The work around to recompile and change of the server address apparently was not without its own issues per the posts here:

Can somebody help and fix this ?Thanks
