VirtualBox 5.1.6 on Arch: NS_ERROR_FAILURE when opening media

I run Arch on a Dell Inspiron 7352, using GNOME as the desktop environment. I am trying to use VirtualBox, but when I try to open media (such as an ISO image), I get this error:

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: SessionMachine
Interface: ISession {7844aa05-b02e-4cdd-a04f-ade4a762e6b7}

What is the solution to this?

Hi neelc,

I had the same problem with virtualbox. The problem was that by default gnome on arch uses wayland instead of xorg, so be sure to log in to 'Gnome on Xorg' and you would be able to use virtualbox without any issue.
