after new kernel laptop suspend after closing the laptop lid

after recent update (4.7.0) my laptop suspends when closing the lid. I have set my laptop to lock when closing lid.
i tried disabling the lock when lid closed , but when I lock via kde menu and then close the lid , then laptop goes to suspend mode again.
how do I fix this?

Re: after new kernel laptop suspend after closing the laptop lid

I have the same problem (also KDE as DE, and it is not configured to suspemd at lid close). I have some laptop thingies installed, e.g. TLP but as far as I checked, none of them are configured to initiate this unexpected behaviour.

How? Where?  Is this a KDE setting or /etc/systemd/logind.conf, or both?

Of course his setup can vary, but for me it is only a KDE setting, the logind.conf seems to be untouched (all lines are commented)

Re: after new kernel laptop suspend after closing the laptop lid

If all lines in logind.conf are commented, then the symptoms described are to be expected as suspending is the default.

Uncomment the HandleLidSwitch line and change it to "ignore".

Re: after new kernel laptop suspend after closing the laptop lid

I didnt change anything.  Just updated and restarted.
and kde setting (systemsetting) have lost its effect on this.meaning: whatever I check for closing the lid option,it always goes to suspend when it is locked and I close the lid.

again, this is not because I changed anything. the lid behavior was set when I installed the OS.this bug happens after latest update.

does this make it so that lid closing does nothing? or kde takes over?
so this is a systemd FEATURE/bug?

Ok, I did that, closed the lid and it still goes suspending... Do I have to run a command beforehand to apply the new settings?

Re: after new kernel laptop suspend after closing the laptop lid

You need to reboot (or at least relogin) for the logind changes to take affect.

I have the same problem with XFCE.
- went back to LTS kernel, problem still here
- edited logind.conf, problem still here

Re: after new kernel laptop suspend after closing the laptop lid

I've finally found the cause of my issue.

I wrote `HandleLidSwitch=ignore # default: suspend` which is invalid and lead to
systemd-logind[8925]: [/etc/systemd/logind.conf:24] Failed to parse handle action setting, ignoring: ignore # default: suspend

when loading the conf.

So moving the comment on the next line solved the issue. Thanks sharing your issues and advice! smile
