Gnome Animations Stopped Working

Hello
This is my first post on the forums so apologies in advance if im posting in the wrong place. Following a failed attempt at installing amdgpu-pro from the AUR, after which i had to put '3' at the end of the grub kernel line just to boot the pc again; i have uninstalled amdgpu-pro-graphics and xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu-pro. I have reinstalled mesa, mesa-libgl and xf86-video-amdgpu to replace them, as this is what they originally conflicted with and uninstalled. The problem is that, once i booted back into gdm and logged into gnome, all of the animations ceased to function, making the desktop look really clunky, let me know if i have missed anything out, thanks!

EDIT: i have just tried to log into cinnamon, although it will only log into software rendering mode, hopefully this information might help ^^

Another EDIT: i have been looking into it for a few more hours and im pretty sure that it is down to a hardware acceleration issue, but i am unsure how to re-enable this hmm

Re: Gnome Animations Stopped Working

To check whether hardware acceleration is working, install mesa-demos, and run:

$ glxinfo | grep "direct rendering"

If that returns "yes", your graphics drivers should be set up correctly.

If the command returns "no", first make sure the correct driver is being used from your Xorg.0.log

EDIT: also, welcome to forums

Re: Gnome Animations Stopped Working

Hello ^^
the command has returned yes, so i guess that my graphics drivers are working, but hardware acceleration still remains non-functional hmm
one thing that might be worth mentioning is that i had to delete several .so files in order for libgl to reinstall, i had to remove these for the installation to complete, for both the normal and lib32 package. I deleted the files with these names in both /usr/lib and /usr/lib32 :

libEGL.so
libEGL.so.1
libGL.so
libGL.so.1
libGLESv2.so

hopefully this might help, i cant think of anything else that would cause this problem
Thanks ^^

To mark as solved, edit your first post and edit the title to add [SOLVED].
