A few days ago, I ran "pacman -Syu" to update my system.
After that, I cannot start VLC by clicking its icon. However, I can start it from konsole and it works fine.
I have already tried the followings:
1. delete ~/.config/vlc
2. sudo /usr/lib/vlc/vlc-cache-gen -f /usr/lib/vlc/plugins
Unfortunately, they do not work.
Would anyone here give me some hints to solve this problem?
Thanks.

What is the startup command in the .desktop file set to? you can check in KMenuEditor (or usr/share/applications/vlc.desktop or if there has been some modifications ~/.local/share/applications (IIRC not sure on that one)?) By starting in Konsole you do get the full fledged GUI and everything?

Thanks for your help.
Following your suggestion, I check the start up command of VLC in KDE. I find that I use "firejail vlc" instead of "vlc" to lauch the application.
After I remove firejail, VLC works like a charm.
Thanks again.
