[SOLVED]Microphone issues

Hi.
I am having issues with the front panel Microphone on my PC.
It did work before and I managed to record sound but now I cannot get it to work.
(I did manage to get a USB headset to work just fine)

I went through the troubleshooting steps and found :
[alin@localhost pulse]$ arecord -l
**** List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices ****
card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: ALC892 Analog [ALC892 Analog]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 2: ALC892 Alt Analog [ALC892 Alt Analog]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

So i added to my config file
[alin@localhost pulse]$ cat /etc/pulse/default.pa | grep "device=hw"
#load-module module-alsa-source device=hw:1,0
load-module module-alsa-source device=hw:0,0
load-module module-alsa-source device=hw:0,2

Also boosted volume :
set-source-volume 1 300000

One other interesting aspect , if in pavucontrol I choose as fallback the device that sees front mic plugged in , Sound Recorder just freezes and I cannot kill the process even as root - have to wait for a not-responding error before I can Force quit.

Any suggestions what I should  check next ?

Re: [SOLVED]Microphone issues

revert your manual ALSA module loads, pulseaudio does that just fine usually. Try to have some application you expect to be able to record with open and then post

amixer -c0
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sources
pacmd list-source-outputs
sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*

Re: [SOLVED]Microphone issues

PulseAudio is your problem... it is basically a problem.
