themes not displaying properly (zsh + oh my zsh +Terminator)

I am unable to get the themes working on zsh, while it seems for a lot of people this worked right out of the box.
I have tried several themes and they only display some elements of the theme but not all, for example, the lambda theme:

(I'm trying to post images but I don't know how to upload them from my pc.)

basically the prompt functions like showing the time, or what user you are, etc. are not showing up at all, neither is the color scheme of the theme being applied to the terminal.
It shows details like the lambda symbol or a '~' but not the entirety of the prompt.

here is my ~/.zshrc

# If you come from bash you might have to change your $PATH.
# export PATH=$HOME/bin:/usr/local/bin:$PATH

# Path to your oh-my-zsh installation.
ZSH=/usr/share/oh-my-zsh/

# it'll load a random theme each time that oh-my-zsh is loaded.

Did you read the note on the wiki about noglobalrcs?

Re: themes not displaying properly (zsh + oh my zsh +Terminator)

Thanks for the tip. I created ~/.zshenv (it didn't exist) and wrote "setopt noglobalrcs" then I rebooted and it broke my login (I have an exec in .xinitrc instead of a display manager) so I had to delete it to run the DE

EDIT: I didn't make it clear in my post: even if the DE wouldn't start having a .zshenv with that option, it still didn't fix the theme problem once I started it manually

No idea then. This is (yet another) example of OMZ proving to be nothing but bloat and fail...

Re: themes not displaying properly (zsh + oh my zsh +Terminator)

I'm having an issue with this as well. It was working at one point and I'm not sure what I did to make it not work, but now the prompt only looks like the default zsh prompt.
