[SOLVED] 8192eu wireless chip driver problem

Hey everyone

I am trying to get a TP-Link WN823N V2 to work on my Arch Desktop. It should have a 8192eu Chip.

I installed rtl8192eu from the aur.

makepkg gives the following errors in package()

start package()
install -D -p -m 644 8192eu.ko  /home/marvin/offline/aur/rtl8192eu/pkg/rtl8192eu/usr/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/
/sbin/depmod -a 4.7.6-1-ARCH
depmod: ERROR: openat(/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH, modules.dep.tmp, 1101, 644): Permission denied
depmod: ERROR: openat(/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH, modules.dep.bin.tmp, 1101, 644): Permission denied
depmod: ERROR: openat(/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH, modules.alias.tmp, 1101, 644): Permission denied
depmod: ERROR: openat(/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH, modules.alias.bin.tmp, 1101, 644): Permission denied
depmod: ERROR: openat(/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH, modules.softdep.tmp, 1101, 644): Permission denied
depmod: ERROR: openat(/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH, modules.symbols.tmp, 1101, 644): Permission denied
depmod: ERROR: openat(/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH, modules.symbols.bin.tmp, 1101, 644): Permission denied
depmod: ERROR: openat(/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH, modules.builtin.bin.tmp, 1101, 644): Permission denied
depmod: ERROR: openat(/lib/modules/4.7.6-1-ARCH, modules.devname.tmp, 1101, 644): Permission denied
stop package()

Which should be a result of depmod not beeing executed as root. I tried executing it as root, but no luck.

the packman installation gives in the end an

(1/1) Install DKMS modules
==> dkms install -m * -v * -k 4.7.6-1-ARCH
Error! Could not find module source directory.
Directory: /usr/src/*-* does not exist.

which i belive is normal, for i have no dkms packages.

My actual problem:
I can load the (a) driver using sudo modprobe 8192eu, right. It appears then in lsmod. But my device is not recognized as a network device (ip link). I tried rebooting. What can i do?

Thanks in advance.

Re: [SOLVED] 8192eu wireless chip driver problem

Installing from the git repro worked like a charm. Maybe the aur Package needs a fix.

git clone https://github.com/Mange/rtl8192eu-linux-driver.git
make
sudo make install
sudo modprobe 8192eu

Thats it. It gets an ethernet name (enp...), but i don't care at the moment.

Greetings
