Hello,
I have problem with most HTTPS websites on Opera and Chromium browser.
For example:
https://docs.python.org
https://www.instagram.com
https://github.com
Some HTTPS websites hardly open on Opera and Chromium. By hardly I mean refreshing many times(4-5) and receiving many "This site can’t be reached" and "<some https website> took too long to respond" from browser until it produces something like this:
then I need one more refresh for it to work properly and it keeps going good for some time.
I have Firefox and Chrome-dev working normally and loading HTTPS at first try.
Any ideas?
Thank you

On Chromium, open Developer Tools, reload the page and check if there are errors logged in the Console part.

I get : GET https://github.com/ net::ERR_TIMED_OUT

Just to make sure, try opening the page with brave browser (electron based) , Liri / QupZilla (QT based) if it work than there is definitely something wrong with the blink browser engine used by both chromium and opera.
Try to purge both browsers and the caches, and than reinstall. Something may be crashy with that, try to start also in safemode (if there is such thing on them).

Brave and QupZilla work well. Clearing all cache and configs and reinstalling seems to fixed Chromium, but it still remains on Opera.

I noticed that there is no problem when I use a VPN connection. I have no idea how connecting through VPN can fix the problem. However it seems that all browsers except Opera working well with or without VPN.

Opera may have the tendency to use upstream proxies, maybe it's related to that, don't know, some serious debugging may be required.

Thanks for help. I will update the post, if I find something new.

I have the same issue. Opera can't load certain sites, particulary github.com and reddit.com. All other browsers (and also Opera on Windows) works fine.

Can you check it with a VPN connection?

Hello. I suffer from the same problem.
I tried to open some sites both with VPN and without. Nothing works.
Even tried to do all of that in beta and developer versions. Dunno what to do.
Somebody help?
Does it make sense to alert their Support?

I cleared Chromium browser data and reinstalled, then switched to it. I don't have this issue on Chromium browser but some https websites such as reddit.com give me "The connection was reset" which solves by using a VPN connection that makes me guess there are some problems with upper network (may be deliberately).

Actually I don't have any problems with Chromium, too.
But Opera hardly loads a half of HTTPS sites.
I overlooked at some threads on forums.opera.com, but every related thread remains unanswered. Strange.

Thank you.
Adding this line to /etc/hosts worked for me. How this solves the problem? is there any explanation for this?

It is easy to explain at Russia - blocking.

Now I can understand where all this trouble comes from. What I can not get, is why they should block an OCSP? We have blocking in Iran too but how this only affects Opera browser?

Thanks a lot, friend. I'm from Russia too, and that "mad indiscriminate blocking stuff" just sets my chair on fire.
