I've installed cinnamon from AUR. Everything built and installed perfectly.
I am currently using Gnome 3 and GDM as the Display Manager.
I don't see cinnamon as an option when I GDM loads.
I'm not sure how to get cinnamon working.
Can someone help me add cinnamon to GDM login selection?
Please help,
xomikronx

Might find some useful information in the following Fedora guide.

hi, you're probably missing a cinnamon xsession file, which aur package did you install?
if you installed this package:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=55330
then that is likely the problem.
create a new file and call it: cinnamon.xsession
put this in that file:
[Desktop Entry]
Name=Cinnamon
Comment=This session logs you into Cinnamon, the Linux Mint fork of GNOME Shell
Exec=gnome-session --session=cinnamon
TryExec=cinnamon
Icon=
Type=Application
now install the file like this:
sudo install -m644 cinnamon.xsession /usr/share/xsessions/cinnamon.desktop
Now log off and click "not in the list" in GDM. you should be able to select a session now, cinnamon will be in it.
let me know how it went
and welcome to arch

I've have followed the following steps. Still do not see anything. When I click not listed, it just me username login then password.
My version is cinnamon 1.1.3-1.
Solved.
I copied the .desktop entry, but for some reason it didn't paste the
"[Desktop Entry]" portion.
Works great. Now to explore all the bugs with cinnamon.
THanks a bunch. LOVE this community!

You think they're still looking for an answer nearly 5 years later?
