MATE desktop: GTK2 and GTK3 groups

Hello,
I'd like to install the "mate-gtk3" group of packages but I'm a bit worried about what will happen when the "normal" MATE becomes GTK3 and the actual "mate-gtk3" group disappears. Does this mean I'll have to uninstall all the "mate-gtk3" packages to install the "mate" ones? Will it be merged automatically and become "mate" so I won't have to change anything to keep receiving updates?

Thank you very much.

They will be replaced by pacman, as it happened with the packages that have already been fully ported (such as mozo, engrampa, mate-terminal)
