Forum: Allow multiple searches within 30 seconds
Hi,
It is very inconvenient not to be able to make a second (or third) search request within 30 seconds after a search on the forums. I get the idea of flooding protection here, but please add a "burst" mode, so that we can have 3 search requests within 30 seconds. It happens to me all the time that I misspell the search term, then have to wait for 30 seconds to search for the corrected term. Or my first try doesn't give me good results, so I wanna change my search term.

I've found I can keep the search results visible by doing a right-click and instructing the browser to go to the site in a new tab.

When you are logged in you should not be subject to the the throttling. Is that not so?

Follow up. The board does indeed have a 30 second search flood timeout for logged in members. It is 60 seconds for guests.
The moderators are checking with the folks who run the servers to see what would be the impact of backing off these rate limits. Let's see what transpires over the weekend.

For searching forum posts there is always Internet search engines. You can add “site:bbs.archlinux.org” to your search terms to limit results to the forums (works in DuckDuckGo and Google).

FWIW, I'll chime in and say it's a bit annoying for me for exactly the reason epinephrine mentioned. My workaround is doing what ukhippo suggested.
