[GNOME] Can only see desktop icons using "Login with Gnome Classic"

After the upgrade to Gnome 3.22, it seems that all the desktop icons are gone unless I do the "login with Gnome classic" option in the login screen.

Thing already tried: Uncomment '#EnableWayland=false' /etc/gdm/custom.conf

Is there a clue for it? Thanks.

GDM has nothing to do with the desktop icons. Nautilus draws these icons on the desktop, but it's not capable of doing this within a Wayland session. So you still have to use an Xorg session until gnome-devs support this feature under Wayland.
