Strange sound when PC is idle

I hear a short sound for 2 seconds when my pc was idle.
This happened before. I reinstalled arch after that.
About a month I did noh tear any sound.

Now recently 2 days ago I am hearing that sound. It happened twice.
I dont know whats is causing it?

Sound seems like some sort of notification but I checked everything. I did not find anything. Does netwok manager produces any sound when connected to internet?

Did anyone had same problem?

This is really freaking me out.

Is it any sort of malware or am I just being paranoid?

I have one strange process.
* zsh
* -zsh

What is -zsh? I know it should be zsh.

Re: Strange sound when PC is idle

Forget about -zsh. That is just login's way to inform shell to become "login shell".

Example from bash manual (applies to zsh too):

A login shell is one whose first character of argument zero is a -, or one started with the --login option.

The sound, is it some ring? notification clearly? What desktop environment do you use? Have a look at the notification settings there ... it's hard to be more specific hmm.

Re: Strange sound when PC is idle

Its not a ring or simple tone or typical notification sound.

Its sound from more than one intrument. Something like drum and another thing. First its drum or tabla sound and later part  sound level decreases at end like 'whoosh' air sound. I hear same sound everytime.
It lasts less than 2 seconds. Its really hard to explain.
I would record that sound if I could but I dont know when it will play sound.

Is it possible to get information about what process or application used spakers recently?

I did not about know about -zsh. Thanks.

Last time I was heard it, I was running Android Studio and Xfce Terminal.
Before that, I was running firefox  when I heard it.

I am using Xfce.

Re: Strange sound when PC is idle

So it's clearly some notification sound. I don't know XFCE but every setup nowadays have a notification daemon of some sort (e.g., I use dunst). Usually it's a popup thingy and can be accompanied with sound, which is maybe set only for "critical" notifications? That might explain why it is so seldom. But I don't find this very likely because you would notice the popups. Then some other applications, like some music players? or maybe some "workrave"-like program, but then again it would be more-less regular, which doesn't seem in your case.

Other than that I'm out of ideas.
