getmail pop3 gmail - Network is unreachable

I use getmail, procmail, mutt and Gmail to do my emails, as described in the wiki but today the getmail part is giving an error.  Yesterday it worked.  I updated the system last night, and I can't remember if getmail worked after that.

When I run getmail I get

getmail version 4.51.0
Copyright (C) 1998-2012 Charles Cazabon. Licensed under the GNU GPL ver
SimplePOP3SSLRetriever:myemail@gmail.com@pop.gmail.com:995:

then it hangs for a few minutes and then

getmailrc: socket error ([Errno 101] Network is unreachable)
  0 messages (0 bytes) retrieved, 0 skipped

My getmailrc is:

[retriever]
type = SimplePOP3SSLRetriever
server = pop.gmail.com
username = myemail@gmail.com
port = 995
password = mypassword

[destination]
type = MDA_external
path = /usr/bin/procmail

[options]
read_all = false

Re: getmail pop3 gmail - Network is unreachable

And it has just started working again.  I haven't changed anything.
