0.7.2 .iso

When will Gimmick be available as iso file?
Our LinuxUserGroup is planning an Installparty because of the next ubuntu-release. I will promote Arch on this event a little bit and it would be nice to make some 0.7.2 CDs as Giveaways.

Edit:
or is ftp://ftp.estpak.ee/pub/archlinux/0.7.2/iso/i686/ official?

Re: 0.7.2 .iso

Gimmick is already available as an iso file. I used the minimal iso install some weeks ago, worked great.

Re: 0.7.2 .iso

Yes, as i wrote i found an .iso of it!
But i thought on an rollin'-release System there is a snapshot on day xy taken and this package list will be called Release XY.
Look at www.archlinux.org and see that the package list is still pending...
For the ftp-inst-disk its OK, but what's with the base- and the full-system?

That why i ask if the available isos are "official"?

Re: 0.7.2 .iso

well, it's a sort of preview.

We do some beta testing ahead of time, and that is a minimal ISO with no packages. It's just hosted there for a couple testers to fetch. That ISO may change without notice (try md5summing it) as Judd fixes whatever the testers find wrong with it.

Generally, it really shouldn't matter, you can use that ISO to install a system just fine, there's a very good chance there's nothing wrong with it wink . When Gimmick is actually released, base and full iso's will appear and the frontpage will be updated.

Re: 0.7.2 .iso

Yeah, the logo is one, but people tend to come up with variations that feature the release's codename once it gets known. see for example this thread with some noodle icons (0.7.1), and you'll find some wallpapers around that feature a wombat (0.7)

Re: 0.7.2 .iso

Ah! thanx! Hmm I think that we should have an Arch Linux theme for KDE and Gnome. For example in one of the posts (that I was linked to.)  there is a trash can with the Arch Logo on it, I think we should take that a bit further and make it the default theme. IMO it would make for a less generic feel, for gnome especially which does not give any indication that the user is running Arch. (Don't get me wrong I don't mind the default look I just think it would look nicer with the Arch logo all over it.  big_smile)

edit: Sorry, that may have been a little of topic.

I think 0.7.2 was released mainly to fix issues with the modular xorg.  Unless you want to install Arch on another system, you don't really need the iso. Just run 'pacman -Syu' to get the latest packages.

It's because you are using version 0.7.2 of the  filesystem and initscripts packages.
