Don't use gnome on wayland, but on login pick gnome on Xorg. search the forums itr.

Well has this been reported?
If not? Where should it be reported?

texmaker, virtualbox, ... everything you want to work on wayland?
The troublemaker here will most likely be xembed and/or the Qt5 gtk QPA.
Repeat after me: wayland is still alpha "software" - it's no where *near* feature complete in terms of "universally supported". Several things tied to X11 won't work. Some never will.

I had a similar problem, with systematic crash as soon as I tried to open a file.
For me it was easier to find the remaining of the answer in the wiki (rather than in the forum): https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/wa … leshooting
I installed qt5-wayland and set up the environment variable QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland-egl
(I have also set the environment variable GDK_BACKEND=wayland but this is not relevant to the issue).
