Hi!
I installed grub with an encrypted /boot partition. This runs very well.
But when I accidently type in a wrong or mispelled password, grub drops me on a rescue shell I cannot leave. Commands like "help" or "reboot" are always stated as 'Unknown commands'.
The only way working is turn off the entire machine using the power button.
Welcome to GRUB!

grub rescue> _

Is there a way to change this behavior, e.g. let me re-enter the correct password or reboot the machine without pushing any buttons?
Any help is appreciated!

Sorry, I fixed it. Anyway, help would be nice.

In the rescue shell you can use: set, unset, ls, insmod.
There's no way to go back, as GRUB expects you to repair those issues, that's why your directed to the rescue shell in the first place.
GNU-grub_commands
Also look at the link in that part 'GRUB only offers a rescue shell'

Well okay... so there isn't a way to tell grub to try it again, just because I pressed one wrong button before?

As far as my understanding for grub goes, no.

Why would this be a problem?
None of the filesystems are mounted at that point so a hard power cycle should cause no issues.

Well, its not very user-friendly. But I think there is no way to get around it. Thanks.

But it is safe. And safety counts for more than usability when they must trade off. Just don't type your passphrase wrong.
Also, don't use [CLOSED] status on this, use [SOLVED].
