Q about Docker on Arch

I've been reading about Docker and I am wondering about a few things that I can't really find a good answer to ...

If I would run an Arch system with just ALSA and without Pulseaudio, can I run a Docker application that depends on Pulseaudio? Can I include the Pulseaudio stack inside the container and have the container use ALSA dmix or whatever?

How about kernel modules and drivers for hardware like a second NIC, so that the host doesn't have the driver but the container does? Virtualbox or VMWare Workstation comes to mind.

Thanks!

Re: Q about Docker on Arch

If a docker container was able to interface with your kernel to provide additional modules, it would seem to me to go against its whole purpose of being a secure container.

Oke - so that's a no on kernel modules and drivers. I didn't think it would work but its better to ask than to assume wrong.

What about pulseaudio, can that work from inside a container with just ALSA installed on the host?

If the software you want to run doesn't support alsa as fallback you can try apulse from AUR .

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
