Gnome Desktop Icons not showing

Greetings,

I'm trying to make icons on the Gnome 3 deskto visible, Ultimately I'd like to be able to create directories and files in Gnome on the desktop. On the net people unanimously advice to use gsettings and let it set icon visbility. I've done that, but still don't get what I want. Any idea what I may be missing?

Here's what I have:
$ gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.desktop.background | grep show-desktop-icons
org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons true

$ gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.nautilus.desktop | grep volumes-visible
org.gnome.nautilus.desktop volumes-visible true

TIA
p@rick

You probably have the same problem that I had : https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=218800

Re: Gnome Desktop Icons not showing

You are right. Switching back to Xorg solved my problem.

Thank you very much!

Almost there…

I need to correct my previous statement:

It works when I start gdm and login the first time. Once I logoff or suspend the machine, the icons are gone again. Have you experienced this too?
