LightDM cannot start session (i3)

Hi,

I installed:
- lightdm
- xorg (, xorg-server, xorg-utils, ...)
- i3-gaps

I edited .xinitrc with the line:
exec i3

This is the only line in the file.

Before I installed lightdm, startx started i3. Now when I try to log in with lightdm, it gives the error: cannot start session. When I try to log in via tty2 in the terminal, and run startx, it gives the error:
xinit: connection to X server lost

What do I have to do?

Have you enabled the lightdm service? I'm guessing that would cause a conflict, but that aside posting some logs (xorg being a start) would help us get a better idea.

Hi, I was not able to get the log file so I made screenshots: http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=078 … 4730312152 (zip file)

No-one is going to download a random zip file and extract it just to look at some screenshots. Use an image host if you want people to help you.

Also, you were asked for logs, which are text. So paste that, not images: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Li … in_clients
