Playing Heroes of Newerth

I have been trying to get HoN to work on Arch, but have not had any luck.  I have tried both the AUR package and the game download from the website.  They both have the same error message, so I am guessing it is something other than the version I am trying to run.  I am on the Zen kernel with nvidia 367.57 drivers.  When I try to run the game I get the following error message:

$ hon

I have looked into the error message and have only found results for Conky.  It does not seem to be a related problem to what I have, and there is very little information on this specific app, because the HoN community is pretty small.
