upowerd and systemd consume too much memory

Hello! I'm using GNOME Shell 3.22.x on Arch Linux. My laptop is a Dell Chromebook 13. Sometimes GNOME's a little laggy and every once in a while the system locks up. I've noticed in GNOME System Monitor that quite a lot of RAM is used even when I have no application running. Then I ran 'top' to investigate what process(es) is eating up my memory. It appears to be upowerd and systemd, more specifically upowerd, systemd-journal and systemd-timesync. They're each using 100-370 MB of memory all of the time... They seem to use a lot less memory when I boot into a different desktop environment (also, no lag or system lockups in other DE's so it really is a GNOME Shell issue).

Can anyone help me solve this issue?
