So I'm trying to use hbonow in google-chrome-stable but it plays the hbo "duuuuuuuuuuun" sound/video and then after that clip finishes the player tries to load the main video. At this point the player seems to hang. I'm not sure what the issues is however or how to debug it. What should I do to figure out what the problem is? Does anyone know of a solution?

It is advised to follow the How to post guide when posting on the Arch forum. If one consciously jumps over these elementary steps like reading the wiki and providing necessary information about the problem, one can be regarded as a Help Vampire.

Good luck with this lambdaislove.
I am currently looking for a solution as well, and I am corresponding with HBO NOW support. It is doing this on all my browsers, but this kind of thing can occur for a wide range of issues. A lot of the fixes can be found on the wiki.
If you figured out a fix be sure to tell us what you did.
Here are some troubleshooting advice from HBO NOW:
1. Try resetting the license files for protected content in Flash. To do this, go to
http://www.macromedia.com/support/docum … ger08.html
and choose Reset License Files
2. Check your browser configuration, including:
-Make sure third-party cookies are enabled.
-Disable ad-blocking software.
-Turn off private browsing or incognito mode.
-Disable browser plug-ins and add-ins.
-Then, close and reopen your browser before trying to play video
again.
3. Adjust your Adobe Flash Player settings by doing the following:
1. Sign in to HBONOW.com, start playing a video, and then choose
the Pause button (lower-left corner).
2. Right-click anywhere on the video, and then choose Settings.
3. On the Display tab, clear the Enable hardware acceleration
check box.
4. Choose Close.
5. Clear the Flash cache by doing the following:
1. Right-click on the video again, and then select Global Settings.
2. Under Settings Manager, select Website Storage Settings
panel.
3. Select Delete all sites and, when prompted, select Confirm.
4. Close and reopen your browser.
5. Sign in to HBONOW.com and try playing video.
