Mpv output directly to HDMI screen

Hello,
I'm trying to play a mkv movie through SSH (smartphone to laptop), directly to the second monitor (laptop connected to TV), using mpv.
The command mpv --screen=[any number] movie.mkv is ignoring the screen, and only display on the laptop screen.
I'm using gnome 3.22 on the wayland session. Anyone have some experience with this or a solution?

Why not cloning the screen? By that you will get the same output on both the laptop and the tv. Also I recommend to use xorg for such purposes. I haven't messed much with Wayland yet, but I can't even start Gparted under Wayland. Doesn't seem stable enough yet for everyday usage.
