[Solved] XFCE: Black screen (not sleep/resume related)

Hi everyone,

I just dug out my old netbook (Dell Vostro A90 - it's the same as the Dell Mini 9 - some Atom CPU with the Intel 945 chipset) and updated my Arch installation on it.
Now, I am unable to use XFCE anymore. SLIM shows up fine and I can login. But then I am only presented with a black screen, and I occasionally can see the XFCE panel flashing.

Here what I tried to fix this problem:

1) I noticed some strange warnings related to intel drm in dmesg and switched back from the current kernel to 3.12. While the warnings were gone, this did not change anything regarding my problem.
2) Tried to disable KMS
3) Tried changing acceleration options in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf (file did not exist before)
4) Tried changing DRI version from 3 to 2
5) Tried NoAccel
6) Created a new user account, but the problem is system-related, not user specific

Everything I tried so far was not successful. To me, it seems like it's related to some 3D or acceleration stuff, since SLIM works and TWM works as well.
I can see the XFCE processes running and can switch from the defunct X terminal back to the text terminals. I have not found anything interesting in Xorg.0.log or anywhere else.
Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks everyone
Velines

Fixed it. For some reason, fontconfig was broken. Removed and re-installed it and everything's working smile
