dell optiplex gx260

this machine has an intel i845 graphics chipset, with the vesa driver i get horrible fonts at 16bits and 1024x768, just unusable. then after reading in the forums someone had an intel i915 chipset i think working with the i810 driver i figured ill use that. well, turns out it works fine at 1280x1024 24bits, but im still a little surprised it worked, so i was wondering if there are some test or things i can do to make sure everything is working properly. thx.

Re: dell optiplex gx260

well looks like tht module i915 is loaded by kernel. also, how do find how much memory this graphics card has, can't seem to find it and the spec sheets doesnt actually say it.

Re: dell optiplex gx260

I am not sure about the GX260, but the GX270,GX280 and GX620 all come with an onboard graphic chip that uses 1 to 8 Mb of main Ram and gives bad performance.

Almost any cheap Ati / Nvidia card (40-50 euro)  performs better.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
