Re: i3 keybindings stop working at random

Got agetty (util-linux package) installed/enabled?
("systemctl status getty@tty1")

Otherwise check https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/GR … ramebuffer
Afaik, wayland doesn't yet work on nvidia anyway.

Re: i3 keybindings stop working at random

Sorry for the delay
agetty seems to be installed yet not active (dead)

What impacts would disabling the framebuffer have on my system? I've read the wiki and it seems that you can keep the framebuffer if you revert to text mode before starting the kernell, What's the difference between disabling it and keeping it?

Re: i3 keybindings stop working at random

It will (should) only activate when you switch to that VT.
The differences on the payload related grub setting is how grub itself appears. You can have it use the framebuffer and drop it (so grub will use the higher resolution and probably more colors) or you can have it use "only" VGA as well. If grub is the thing that you ignore before the system boots, it really doesn't matter.

Any updates on this? Same thing happening to me, on Arch Linux LTS 4.19.56-1 and i3 4.16.1.

Re: i3 keybindings stop working at random

Please don't necrobump. If this was a bug, it's unlikely the same problem anymore.
Open a new thread and detail your own experiences there. Also compare the behavior of "xev -event keyboard" and the xorg log dump of

xdotool key "XF86LogGrabInfo"

once the shortcuts fail against the functional state.
