Thinkpad T530 touchpad scrolling jumpy in web browsers (i3 + opera)

I have a Thinkpad T530 and when two-finger scrolling in web browsers such as opera/chromium with the touchpad it cam be v. jumpy and erratic. For example it'll often jump back in the opposite direction as you release your fingers.

Strangely I don't have this problem with either the trackpoint (middle button scroll) or a kensington trackball mouse. Is there some sort of setting that I could have missed?

contents of 20-thinkpad.conf and 50-synaptics.conf below:

Unfortunately these date from when I was first using Arch and I was particularly inexperienced so they're not as well managed as my later configuration files.

Re: Thinkpad T530 touchpad scrolling jumpy in web browsers (i3 + opera)

I got a T410 and had similar issues. I fixed them by not using synaptics driver and using libinput instead - note I'm on gnome.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Touchpad_Synaptics

Disabling the trackpoint in BIOS is an alternative option which you can try out first, before switching to libinput.

Hope it helps!
