Hi everyone!
I recently installed arch linux on my desktop computer.
After i installed arch I don't have any audio through my gtx 1070:s DisplayPort / HDMI port.
I am running arch 4.8.7-1 with Gnome version 3.22.2
Here is the output of uname -a:
Linux sayuki 4.8.7-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Nov 10 17:22:48 CET 2016 x86_64 GNU/Linux
The things I have noticed is that audio from my MB works with a normal 3.5mm audio device (such as a pair of headphones).
I have also noticed that in the built in sound settings my 1070 is not listed as a sound output device.
In Pavucontrol my gtx 1070 is in the list over audio devices though it is stated as unplugged.
Over in pavucontrols configuration tab I can see that the 1070 has 4 audio devices, HDMI, HDMI2, HDMI3 and HDMI4 (none of these works and all is shown as unplugged.)
Also to note is that I have tried to use a different displayport connector on the 1070.
I hope I have been able to describe my problem and to conclude this post I'm going to provide the output information of the following commands:

That was productive ewaller. Its an Arch-based operating system.
Nevertheless, dunderboy i think i may have found out problem-o. Your hdmi sink was suspended, as was mine. I was able to fix it by following the instructions here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pu … turned_off Basically turn your monitor off, hit Ctrl+Alt+F1 to go to a virtual terminal, turn your monitor back on, then hit Ctrl+Alt+F7 to switch back to your main VT. Your audio should work without a reboot. There is also a workaround under those instructions involving commenting something out of a pulse audio config file. Hope this helps

Hi everyone, thx for the replies!
The suggestion from bigdoge16 didn't work.
First i tried your suggestion but that didn't work then,
I followed the link to the arch wiki and found the work-around fix, though when trying to apply it to my system i noticed that the module-switch-on line was already commented.
So i uncommented it and tried the quick fix without any success.
So to bad for me, when looking in pavucontrol I can see 4 hdmi / displayport devices, hdmi, hdmi2, hdmi3 and hdmi4 all stated as unplugged.
But then when i check in the nvidia control panel it is stated that the GPU is connected to the display on DFP-4.8, it is also stated that audio is available.
So a general though from my side would be that maybe hdmi / dp 4 is not the same as 4.8,
and therefore pulse is not able to find / output to it?
thx for the replies in advance!

After googling extensively, I stumbled upon:
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topi … i-dp-audio
I had DP 1.2 enabled in my Dell U2415 and it was also shown to be connected on DP-4.8 port.
After disabling DP 1.2 in monitor settings, it was shown as connected to DP-4 and audio was working as it should.
So if you have problem with NVidia drivers and DP monitor seemingly unplugged, try and check if you have DP 1.2 enabled.
