I have a weird bug.
Whenever I take out my ac adaptor and use the battery power on my MSI laptop and try to run a primusrun command for a game or a application I get a error that says that then nvidia card is locked up. The only way this issue can be resolved is to reboot, and leave the ac adaptor plug in. If I do that, the card works fine without any issues as long as the cord remains plug in.
My guestion is. Is this a bug due to nvidia and bumblebee, or is it a feature. And if it is a bug, can it be fixed?
Here is my dmesg log:

I've already checked on the Arch wiki under
1) https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/NVIDIA
2) https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bumblebee
3) https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bu … management
But to no avail.

I'm still new to systemd logging system. So if the info isn't enough, please let me know.

Thanks Lekensteyn. I didn't see that part of the wiki. I guess it's a bug then.

Yes it is a bug, have you tried the workaround?
Offline
I did. It didn't work at all. Basically I had a kernel crash afterwords when I applied the fix. I had to use a arch iso usb, and launch chroot to undo the fix.
I don't have a Skylake cpu. I have a Broadwell chip i7 chip. For now I'll just wait until a patch comes in. This isn't a big deal to me since I only take my ac adaptor out to discharge the battery once a month.
Thanks for the help though Lekensteyn.

What "fix" did you apply? Got a dmesg from the event?
If you are bootloader like grub, you could edit the kernel command line without a live USB. Mind posting your acpidump as well? (or even the full tarball as described at https://bugs.launchpad.net/lpbugreporter/+bug/752542)

I don't have the dmesg for the event. I forget to record my dmesg logs around the time I applied the fix.
I am using a grub boot loader for my set up.
I added a fix like
acpi_osi=! acpi_osi="Windows 2009"
But I ended up making my system crash on boot up. Ex:
MSI GE62 Apache Pro (i7-6700HQ/GTX 960M). Workaround: acpi_osi=! acpi_osi="Windows 2009"
I'll try to post my acpidump as soon as I can. If I can install acpidump on Arch, and learn how to use it.
I'll try again later on the weekend.
Edit: Okay I install the tool I need to run acpiddump. I don't know If this will help or not.
[alistairmiller@Natsuko ~]$ dmesg|grep DSDT
[ 0.000000] ACPI: DSDT 0x000000009BBBE1D0 016325 (v02 MSI_NB MEGABOOK 01072009 INTL 20120913)

Install the iasl and dmidecode packages, then run the script on the linked Launchpad bug to create a tarball. Upload the tarball here (or to that Launchpad bug).
Offline
Okay I uploaded the tarball in launchpad under the name Adrian.

Hm, it seems that you are very unlucky. There is no acpi_osi workaround available for you. If you do not care about your battery, remove bbswitch (or set PMMethod=none in /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf for the same effect). You are possibly affected by https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156341
Just to be sure that the above problem is indeed the case, can you try writing ON to /proc/acpi/bbswitch, then OFF, then ON? Do this without loading nvidia and check the dmesg afterwards.
Your ACPI tables show that the "\_SB.PCI0.PGON" method unconditionally invokes code that is known to be incompatible.
Upgrading from BIOS version (E1791IMS.10D, 05/28/2015) to E1791IMS.113 will not help, that version will likely have the same issue.

Alright then. I'l disable my PmMethod on my bumblebee.conf.
This is a desktop replacement machine so I don't care about battery life all that much.
Thank you for your help, and your patience.

Okay, update.
I solved the issue by uninstalling tlp. Now I can plug in and out the ac adapter without the card locking up. It turned out that tlp was the culprit.
