[solved] libreoffice huge icons and getting stuck

As the title says, when I open libreoffice, since recently, it shows huge icons and responds extremely slow.
I am using a laptop with high resolution (3200x1800, using the factor 2 scaling of gnome tweaking) and bumblee for the combination of the standard intel video card and an nvidia 860m card.
Below is a screenshot of libreoffice being openened.

I have really no clue what causes this.
Could someone point me in the right direction ?

Thanks

Re: [solved] libreoffice huge icons and getting stuck

See if this command fixes things:

 env SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk libreoffice

If it does, it's because you have high-dpi + wayland + gtk3 issues. I temporary fixed this by adding to /usr/bin/libreoffice (it's is a bash script)

SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk
export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN

My understanding is that this forces LibreOffice to use gtk2x, which alleviates the issue.

The best thing to do would be to file a bug against LibreOffice (which I haven't gotten around to doing quite yet)

Perhaps this should be submitted as a temporary patch in Arch?

Should I just try to contact Andreas Radke?
