Atom crash on Gnome

Hello,

I recently set up Arch Linux on my new Lenovo ThinkPad 460 Yoga.
Due to my programming I need a text editor. I use on my other machines the Atom editor on Arch without any problems.
After installing Atom to my new Notebook with Pacman, Gnome just freezes after starting Atom and I can do nothing except of moving my coursor.
When I try to start Atom with the command prompt nothing happens.
I also tried installing it from the user repository with yaourt, but after launching Atom the same issue comes up.

regards

Shnizzel

Edit.
I managed somehow a workaround for the problem with crashing Gnome.
But using the shortcut remains still without any response, same as trying to start with the terminal.

Re: Atom crash on Gnome

Same situation here on Xfce4 and Thunar.
I found that the shortcut of 'Open with Atom' actually issues the command 'electron'.
The problem is solved by asking Thunar to open the file with a custom command 'atom'.
Maybe you can do something similar with Gnome's file manager.

Also, Xfce4 crashes if Atom is launched from its panel application menu, while Atom can be successfully launched from terminal emulator.
This happens after a recent update to Atom 1.12.5.
