Some basic problems (proxy and font)

Hello guys, this is my first topic and I was wondering if you could help me.
First of all I need help with the proxy. In my university we have a wpa-2 enterprise wifi network and we need to access internet with a proxy. I'm not sure of how bash programming is like. I followed this tutorial but I didnt understood the bash function. There is any page where it explains it to me?
And in second place I want to change the system font to ubuntu using this tutorial but i didnt understood anyway, it look like if doing the change of code like it explains on first place doesnt change anything.

Tell what you don't understand in the tutorials, rather than just saying 'I didn't understood'.
Tell in detail what you tried and the exact result.

Also it would have been better to have opened two threads for these two entirely different problems.
I suggest you do that for clarity sake.
