I believe(I've read elsewhere) that the plugin needs to be compiled on a different GCC version than the current one. It causes the plugin not to have chat abilities if it is compiled on the current GCC. Also a side note, the link posted is dead. Correct link:

Alright, I found some more informantion for you. According to what I've read as long as it's compiled with 3.X than it should be fine, but it cannot be compiled with 4.X; Also did you try:
Edit your xfire Account, under 'Show More Options' and then 'Version' change the version to 56(or 156 don't remember how it's implemented so try both )

ya of course its 56 but it crashes on connect
i guess gaim-xfire cant be used on arch because installing 3.x in addition to 4 is too messy IMO if anyone wants to post a PKGBUILD for it ill change/delete mine

I'm sure if someone felt like it, they could modify the source of gfire and make it usuable with gcc 4

actually i think i can make a pkgbuild that will download a bin version of gcc 3.x and use that temp then remove it.. its probably not too hard but i dunno if arch devels will support this idea

I don't mean to bump this thread, but is anyone still maintaining this package?

Doesn't look like it. Why not adopt it yourself?

I might just do that. Xfire is one of the programs that I love, but is sadly windows exclusive. Also emulation doesn't work too well.

I'm now maintainer of gaim-xfire
I updated it to version 0.6.0 and I also added an "svn"-PKGBUILD
gaim-xfire 0.6.0 don't needs gcc34... - yes it works with gcc 4.1.2-2
I hope you enjoy it
cheers
