Chromium 'ah snap' due to data ulimit

Diffing on github generated an 'ah snap' error.  This is the url I tried.  Inspecting dmesg, it seems:

mmap: chromium (7791): VmData 2148134912 exceed data ulimit 2147483647. Update limits or use boot option ignore_rlimit_data.

This true for others?  I might be misunderstanding, but calling /usr/bin/ulimit on my box returns unlimited.  Need to google more... perhaps chromium-specific.

% ulimit
unlimited

Re: Chromium 'ah snap' due to data ulimit

This is not going to resolve the problem.
But it might help you find the cause of the problem.

In Chrome/Chromium hit Shift+Esc to open up the Task Manager.
It will show you lots of info for each browser tab.
Right-click on the column headings to add/remove columns. Left-click to sort them.

I always use this to check if one of my JavaScripts is leaking memory. If so I can watch the memory consumption of that tab go up and up. Until somewhere between 700MB - 800MB when Chrome/Chromium drops the Awh Snap shades. (Always between 700MB -800MB.)
Same for CPU usage. Usually between 70% - 80% (for me).

@DB - Good tip!  Thank you.

EDIT: added it to the wiki

Re: Chromium 'ah snap' due to data ulimit

Doesn't crash here but it sure chews memory and cpu for a while until it settles down.
