USB Type-C Docking stations for Linux

Hi there,

USB Type-C docks are coming to the market for Linux, but they are few and quite hard to find, among the numerous versions of {Windows,Mac}-only devices.
Is there somewhere a list of linux-compatible docking stations?

Does any of you have one, and if yes, what model is it?

Cheers,

Re: USB Type-C Docking stations for Linux

There is nothing about the USB spec that is windows/mac specific.  Marketing rarely targets linux - so when a marketer wants to say somthing will work on "all" computers they say it works for mac and windows.

There really shouldn't be a question of which hardware manufacturer is linux compatible, but rather which features of this hardware class the linux kernel can currently use.  For example, you may have mixed results which USB display link features (as described in the wiki).  But support for such features are getting better every day in linux.  In any case, asking which hardware manufacturer to look for is irrelevant here.

Great!
I once used specific hardware like Epiphan's or BlackmagicDesign framegrabbers, and these manufacturers charge  $1000 US for building drivers for linux x86 kernels other than those they already support.
I was afraid this would also apply to some docking stations.

Thanks for the answer!
